The author’s application for asylum has been denied by the State party. He claims that his removal to Sri Lanka would amount to a violation by Canada of his rights under articles 6, 7, 9, 23 and 24 of the Covenant. The Optional Protocol entered into force for the State party on 19 August 1976.
