The Special Rapporteur requests the international community to support the efforts
of Brazil to implement the above-mentioned recommendations, and to close the gap
between the country’s ambitious laws and policies and the everyday situation of people
deprived of their liberty, in particular by ensuring comprehensive and effective enforcement
of new and existing laws and policies.
