1.1
The author is N.D.J.M.D, a national of Sri Lanka born on 17 February 1982 and
currently residing in Canada. The author is subject to removal to Sri Lanka, following the
rejection of his application for refugee status in Canada. The removal to Sri Lanka was
scheduled for 5 December 2014. The author claimed that his rights under articles 6 (1), 7
and 9 (1) of the Covenant would be violated if Canada were to proceed with his forcible
removal. The Optional Protocol entered into force for the State party on 19 August 1976.
The author is represented by counsel, Joseph W. Allen.

On 2 December 2014, pursuant to rule 92 of the Committee’s rules of procedure, the
Committee, acting through its Special Rapporteur on new communications and interim
