The authors of the communication are S.M.R., her husband M.M.R. and their two children. The authors are Iranian citizens currently residing in Sweden, where they are seeking refugee status. S.M.R. and M.M.R. claim that they would risk imprisonment and torture upon return to the Islamic Republic of Iran and that their forced return to that country would therefore constitute a violation by Sweden of the Convention. They are represented by counsel. The facts as presented by the authors 2.1. The authors state that S.M.R. has been an active member of the illegal organization the Mujahedin. Because of her political activities she has been imprisoned twice by the Iranian authorities. She was first arrested in 1982 and spent four years in the Evin-Ghezelhesar prison.
