- The IRCT is a network of over 150 torture rehabilitation centres in 75 countries, and thereby the world’s largest membership-based civil society organisation specialised in the field of torture rehabilitation. The work of the IRCT provides context to health-based rehabilitation within all pillars of the global fight against torture: prevention, accountability and reparation. Other then rehabilitation their main activities regarding torture-prevention include advocacy and lobbying for torture victims' rights in key legislative and policy processes at the UN, the EU and other regional mechanisms, and in the countries where the IRCT is present. It also publishes reports and studies on the situation of torture and ill-treatment and the right to rehabilitation in several countries. The network has close working relationships with relevant NGOs, health professional organisations and other key stakeholders to help ensure that our efforts generate results in the lives of individual victims.
